Boards to cover Insulation Wool

€250

Description

I’m looking for a carpenter or handyman for a small attic job in Cabra. I recently had attic insulation and partial flooring installed. There are areas of exposed mineral wool insulation around the boarded section which make the space difficult to use. I’m looking for a practical solution to make these areas usable, ideally by sourcing and installing neat, lightweight removeable raised covers/bridges over the insulation (without compressing it), so the attic can be accessed and used safely without agitating the mineral wool. I won't walk on these covers, they are just to contain the mineral wool and avoid constant new dust from them in the attic. They need to be removeable because these areas are above pipes. * Insulation must not be compressed (needs to remain effective) * Raised solution required (e.g. battens + plywood/OSB) * Only certain areas need covering (not full attic) * There is also a duct and uneven insulation to work around Looking for someone detail-oriented who can suggest a clean, practical solution rather than a quick fix.

@Mihai P. PS: I won't walk on it. It's just so the mineral wool is contained and not constantly agitated when I move around up there.

@Mihai P. I've updated my request a bit. I would assume roughly 3sqm, maybe 4 - at least 2-3 boxes needed, I think. The attic is floored, Just the wool where there's no floor needs to be covered (not airtight - open towards the eaves/watertank) so I'm not coughing every time I go up. Like small boxes probably best around the areas. I can upload more pictures later.

To avoid it ,you will need a Loft flooring system, and price it’s total different, because it’s including materials ,and labour ,but first of all I will need around how many square meters you have there to build this floor and to know how many materials it’s will going there ?can you tell me ?

@Mihai P. Thank you! Would you be abel to source plywood or whatever would be best? And it's important the mineral wool doesn't get compacted, so if a box needs to be built, that's fine, too. Important to avoid moisture and mould that way.

@Conor H. Thank you! I assume 25 EUR is not the offer? I would need boards and cutting and fitting. How much would you charge?

@Eoghan s. Maybe more stilts are needed for the areas where no floorboards were placed, is that what you mean? Can't that be done?

Lisa U. 28 days ago

@Eoghan s. There are floor boards right next to where the wool is. So there are stilts below the floor boards. I expect if the boards are not lower than the floor it shoudl be ok? Keeping it open means the wool is agitated every time I put something in the attic and I have to work up there with a mask and goggles all the time, it seems.

Condensation/mould*

Hi Lisa, it’s a bad idea to go straight over as you can get condensation mild problems. It’s recommended to use stilts to maintain airflow between the flooring and insulation
