Remove grass top, double-dig  bed to depth of half a metre,. 2 sections - Approx 10m x 1m, and  3m x 2m - see image below. Dig  in manure/fertiliser (provided).

@James L. We are in foxrock Dublin 18. It is a first dig of this area so we feel it might be a little compacted in some areas and we want to make sure it's deep enough for planting of some larger shrubs.

Is there a reason for a double dig? Is it particularly compacted? Also where abouts in Dublin are you?
