add pull type switch to activate extraction fan in bathroom

Your wiring needs to be checked ..sometimes wiring with isolation switch is for a 2 wire extractor fan and some times the wiring is different for a 3 wire extractor fan ....so it seems your fan does not suits the wiring or some issue with wiring

@Alan T. unfortunately light switch does not activate fan, which is only activated by dedicated switch above door frame
That should be just an isolator for your fan. The light switch should activate the fan?
@Daniel R. Is there any way to replace or add this in series so that fan can be operated with ease ? Current setup is quite impractical with switch 20 cm above door frame
The one you bought is for ceiling if that make sense to you
