I want to reduce a fireplace mantle , remove ir cut it short and replace it. Then hang a tv and mirror.

You have to remove the fireplace first to do that. It will look shit otherwise. And you will still have to patch the wall.
@Zak N. I am not removing the fireplace , I just want to reduce the mantel, the brown wooden part
Hi Olajide, When you remove the fireplace you will need to patch up the wall, Replace the wooden floor unless you have spare floor boards? Replace the skirting going across the fireplace. And as it's a gas fire you will need to get a RGI plumber to remove the gas fire and cap off the gas pipe. If anyone else does the gas you and they would be breaking the law. Now that you know that it would cost more then €100 in materials never mind labour. Thanks Zak
