Remove floating shelves

Description
There are floating shelves in an alcove, between the fireplace and the wall. I would like to remove two of them but I've had difficulty trying to get them out.
@Conor W. Side walls are solid/concrete. What damage do you think could occur? I'm thinking a repaint and some plastering might be needed, is that what you mean?
