Any luck?
@michael g. Yes, let me try assigning the task.
I think you have to assign me the task before we can proceed
Sorry I was working late. I'm not exactly sure how to send direct messages as I am new here as well, I think you may have to assign the task to me first
@michael g. I tried sending you a request to hire. I am not sure how I can send you a message here
Message me and I will explain
@michael g. That’s great. So have you found the matching top or you can fix it without that. Please also let me know when you can fix it and how much would that cost me.
That's good. I can repair it
@michael g. It’s not spreading. It’s still the same size as you can see in the pictures.
How big of an area is the bulge spreading?
@michael g. Yes, it is bulging around the holes. The surface beneath the sheets is also same shade of brown.
Is the laminate bulging//lifting around the holes?
@Sharanpreet M. That colour worktop is not really available anymore. It's an old colour. There might be ones similar but not the same.
@michael g. Yes, I am also browsing for the same one. No luck so far
@Gence G. I did try finding a similar top but haven’t had luck so far. It’s a rented house so the landlord is okay even if it looks patchy but he wants it fixed. Would that be possible?
Can you Google lens the worktop and let me know if you find a match
@michael g. I see. Please keep me informed in case you find matching top.
My intention is to fix it
@michael g. I see. Good to know you are coming regularly to Dublin. In case we don’t find the matching worktop, would it be difficult to fix it? Just trying to check on the alternatives
As soon as we track down the same worktop. I've been searching for it but no luck so far. I'm up and down to Dublin regularly
@Donagh M. Alright. I understand that. Tomorrow I’d be working from office so unfortunately it might not work. I will get in touch once I hear back from the landlord.
@Donagh M. I would be the one paying. My landlord only wants it to get fixed. That is the reason I am trying to check the prices to make sure if that fits my budget.
@Donagh M. So can we say around €400 then?
@michael g. Hi Michael, I see you are based out of Galway. I am looking for Dublin 15. Would you be able to do the job?
That includes removal of old counter and disposal.
I can’t see the full length but I assume it’s just one cut out for the cooking hob? Labour be 300 plus costs of materials.
No the sheet can’t be replaced as it’s glued onto the wood. The actual counter top itself will need to be replaced. There’s a division so not all of it just to the division line. But you will need to locate the same colour counter top aswell
@Donagh M. So we would need to replace the laminate sheets for the entire countertop? How much do you think that would cost me? I can have a discussion with my landlord then
Jeez it’s right in a bad place. I’m sorry but the entire counter will need to be replaced. I do that type of work if you’re interested
@Donagh M. I have added two more photos. Let me know if that works
Can you put up photo showing the full length of the counter top please
@Donagh M. It is rental house. Landlord wants me to get this fixed.
Is it your own house or a rental?
@Sharanpreet M. What sort of clay? Painting it afterwards isn't a great idea but it will never be exactly as original. Tbh it's not practical to get it sorted.
@Paul M. I see. Would filling it with clay and glue. Then painting over the surface would help?
@Sharanpreet M. It's not practical to repair these holes, except maybe put in glue but it won't be perfect or look like new.
