I need the following sanded and sealed/ stained: 4x beechwood chairs (dark stain) 2x mahogany chairs - see second image (dark stain). We have all the products (electric sander, sandpaper of differing grit, wood conditioner, wood stain, etc)
@Conor M. Of course. I'll accept the job now :)
Outside suits well. Could you just make sure that you have several cotton cloths (no microfibre) for both applying the stain and clean ones for removing excess? And would you have a pair of dish washing gloves for the work? I can get a pair otherwise.
@Conor M. Hey Conor, we are gone for most of the day tomorrow but I guess you won't need to be inside if you wanted to do them out the front if the weather is ok?
I would like to get them done in one day, if we moved beyond one chair.
Tomorrow would be ideal but later today could also be possible, I would just have to go fetch painting clothes from somewhere so it would be later in the day today.
@Conor M. Ok, let's give it a go then. Maybe we can start with one and see how we go? Are you still free today or when suits?
Hey Megan, I have sanded and painted chairs. I know the steps involved in staining. Two things that can lead to streaks are: not enough sanding and not wiping off excess wood stain minutes after it is applied. A cotton cloth (e.g. old t-shirt) is also recommended for applying the wood stain. I could go at it.
@Conor M. Hi Conor, do you have experience sanding and staining? My husband attempted one chair and it was trickier than we thought it would be to get the stain to not look streaky...
My price is for labour you would have to supply the materials I need I have availability this week
@Megan G. Hi Megan, is it just the chairs? Or the table also? Thanks Sarah.
