@David K. Hi David, there is no underneath access. Would you have to lift the stairs carpet & could it be put back down do you think?

Yes send photos please It can be put back but wont be like it is as may have to be cut to access the thread/risers that squeek

@Ronan F. Hi Ronan, I see what you mean. Once the carpet is pulled up it cant be put back down? Under the stairs is a cubby room in the kitchen, I cam send a picture when I'm back home

Hi dervala to fix this without having access underneath there is a high possibility of needing to remove the carpet and then that would need to be replaced
