Install PVC Panels on an external wall

€500
Task Assigned

Description

[ EDIT: I have increased my budget to €500, with more specific requirements on exactly what needs to be done and how. Please read the below description carefully to make sure we are aligned on what is needed before placing an offer. ] DESCRIPTION: We have an external wall (circled in RED in Image 1) where the PVC panels have fallen off, and we are looking for someone to help us install them back on. LOCATION: Drogheda, Co. Louth. There are two parts to the wall - Image 2 shows a sketch of what exactly needs to be done. For the main part of the wall (area above the horizontal pipe): 1. Attach approx. 4 timber planks vertically to the wall; 2. Attach the PVC panels horizontally to the timber. For the bottom part of the wall (underneath the pipe): 1. Cover first with a waterproof layer; 2. Then cover with the same horizontal PVC panels as the rest of the wall. Materials needed (we will pay for them but we'll need you to source them for us): 1. Four vertical timber planks; 2. Waterproof layer to cover the bottom part of the wall; 3. Any additional PVC panels needed on top of the existing ones we already have (Image 3 shows the existing panels that we have). We definitely want to re-use the existing panels as much as possible and only add what is necessary. Other requirements: 1. Because the job is quite specific, we would like you to come and have a look in person first and clarify what exactly needs be done and the exact materials needed. Therefore the job may be a better fit for someone who is located in or near Drogheda. Please take this into consideration when placing your offer, and confirm that you are open to coming over to have a look first. 2. This is the exterior wall on the first-floor so some amount of climbing would be necessary. It would be ideal if you can bring your own ladder, as the one we have is not the most proffesional. Image 4 shows the flat roof that you will need to stand on to access the PVC wall.

@David B. Hi David, I have increased the budget to €500 and updated the description and images to include a clearer explanation of what exactly needs to be done. I would appreciate if you can take a look again and let me know if you would like to proceed, as well as confirm if you would be happy to come and have a look first to assess material requirements etc. It would be ideal if you are based local or are ok to drive back and forth more than once. Thanks!

Photo 3 looks like corrugated sheets of steel, with the typical wavey shape on the surface, is that correct? Your photo is a bit blurry.

Ann. I'm not based local. Anyway you have to pick one of us for the job. That's the way this website works. We cannot exchange contacts otherwise the website will delete us taskers.

@Barry W. Hi Barry, thanks very much for the reply. Are you based in Drogheda? Would it be handy for you to pop over and take a look first before proceeding?

@Paul M. Hi Paul. Thanks a lot for your reply. Yes this whole section of the house is an extension. I've added a 3rd photo just there showing the roof to the right side of the wall (not sure what these are called). Are you based in Drogheda? Would it be handy for you to pop over and take a look at both the wall and our existing pvc panels first? We ideally want to get an estimation of how much extra materials are needed and how much the full cost will add up to before proceeding

Is that an extension roof on the ground floor, at the bottom of the photo? Also what is the roof to the right of the side wall you want to put the pvc on? Slates/tiles or a flat roof?

Those pvc panels are not designed to be put on the wall unsupported. Whoever did the job before didn't do the job right. Needs to attach/drill and bolt timber planks vertically to the wall in about 4 equally spaced places and then nail the panels to the timber usually through the groove, so the next row of panels will slot into the groove and cover the nail heads. Or use specific nails/screws with Pvc covers on the heads (to be waterproof).
