What can a Bathroom Sealing Expert do?

A bathroom sealing expert can make sure the wet areas of your bathroom will not leak water. Usually they are handymen or plumbers. Their goal is to protect the walls, subfloors and rooms below the bathroom to prevent damage and mould. If you’re concerned about a leak or have cracked, mouldy siding your handyman can get to work removing the existing sealant and resealing the area. They’ll know just the right amount of sealant to apply to avoid staining the surrounding tiles, bath, or shower and they’ll be able to remove old sealant quickly and efficiently. If you’ve just had a new bathroom fitted that needs to be sealed for the first time, they can take care of this for you also. From siliconing joints to complete tanking solutions, our Taskers have experience with a wide range of products and can advise on the best type of sealant to go for. Whether you need your sink, shower or bath sealed, no job is too big or small - request a free quote today to get started.

Bathroom Sealing FAQs

Why should I hire someone to seal my bathroom for me?

While you may be tempted to seal your bathroom yourself, it’s best advised to hire someone with experience. If it’s not done preferably it could cost you a lot of money and headaches in repairs in the future. When it comes to removing old sealant, it's not a fun job and an experienced set of hands will be much better at cutting out the old silicone without scraping surrounding surfaces. A seasoned tradesperson will also be better able to identify the source of any leaks and advise on the best type of sealant to use for your specific situation. For example, if your bathroom is very humid, they may be able to recommend a good Anti-Mould Sealant.

How often should I reseal my bathroom?

If you’ve noticed a leak or wet patch in your bathroom, you should have this area resealed right away to avoid further damage. Old, cracked and mouldy sealant should be replaced as soon as possible also. In general, it’s advisable to have your bathroom resealed every 1-2 years, regardless of whether there is any visible damage or leaks. This prevents mould and mildew build up which can lead to more serious issues down the line.

Can I reseal over existing sealant?

No, you should never reseal over existing sealant. Not only will this look unappealing, but cracked sealant will still leak, even if covered. All of the old sealant must be removed before you can reapply a fresh batch.

Do I need to purchase the sealant myself?

In general, you should pick up the sealant yourself. It’s relatively cheap (under €15 in most cases) and will be available in most hardware stores. There are a wide range of sealants available from waterproof to anti-mould and anti-fungicide. Silicone sealants are generally considered to be the best kind to go for but you can ask your Tasker for their advice before starting the project if you’re unsure.

How soon will I receive quotes?

You can start receiving quotes as soon as you post the details of your job. Generally, the first quotes start to come in within minutes of posting.
