TaskMatch is Ireland’s biggest marketplace for people to outsource tasks, find local services, or hire workers in minutes

Whether you just have a few splatters of concrete in your drainpipe or you wish to tear down an entire shed, you can choose from an experienced pool of workers on TaskMatch. Your Tasker will come equipped with the skills and know-how to remove your concrete cleanly and safely, without any damage or accidents. The tradesperson will adjust their methods based on the volume and thickness of the concrete. For small slabs they often use a sledgehammer and pry bar. If the concrete is over 4 inches thick, a more powerful tool such as a jackhammer will be required. For smaller concrete deposits, chemicals can be used to dissolve the residue. If you’ve purchased a skip, your Tasker can shoulder the heavy lifting to place the concrete inside. In some cases, they may be able to transport it to a local recycling centre for you - you can confirm the removal details before the project begins. Many of our customers like to hold on to their leftover concrete and have used it to build rock pools and mosaic-style patios in the past.

Usually, concrete removal is priced at around €2 - €6 per square foot, however the thickness and location of the concrete can affect the price.
Get quotes for Concrete Removal in your areaIf your concrete is thin enough to do so, the easiest way to remove it is by prying it up from the ground using a pry bar or shovel. Once removed it’s easy to break it apart using a hammer. However, this won’t be possible for thicker slabs which require the use of heavy duty tools like kango hammers and diggers.
In theory, any sort of acid can dissolve concrete. You can even try creating a vinegar solution at home for tiny flecks. However, there are many great products out there specifically designed for dissolving concrete such as the Mortar Dissolver from Croc Crete. There are also several products which can split concrete such as Dexpan’s Expansive Demolition Agent. When poured into cracks and crevices, this grout expands to further break up the concrete.
This will depend on the volume and thickness of the concrete. As a rule of thumb, it will take roughly 2 minutes per square foot with a jackhammer and 6 minutes with a sledgehammer. Dissolving agents generally take between 10-30 minutes to work.
Yes, there are Taskers who can help with shed demolition. However, it’s important to check regulations before attempting any kind of demolition as you may need planning permission, especially if you’re living in an estate with neighbours close-by. You can read more about demolitions and planning permission in Ireland here.
You could attempt minor concrete removals yourself using a pry bar and sledgehammer, however it can be dangerous. A Tasker will be experienced and have the right safety gear such as steel capped boots and face masks. It’s best to leave larger concrete removals to someone with experience as handling a jackhammer or other heavy duty tools can be dangerous if you don’t know what you’re doing. Dust from cutting concrete is also toxic so it might be an idea to play it safe and leave it to someone with experience.
